Client Spotlight
August 13, 2015

We recently spoke with Brian Osburne, CFO of Taylor Enterprises, to learn more about the company’s history, services and the impact technology has had on their operations.

TEI (Taylor Enterprises, Inc.) has been a client of Pivotal IT since 2009.  We recently spoke with Brian Osburne, CFO of Taylor Enterprises, to learn more about the company’s history, services and the impact technology has had on their operations.

Sandy and Jill Taylor launched their small business in 1973 with a single truck driver distributing Texaco products in Spartanburg.  Taylor Enterprises was incorporated in 1976 and since that time has expanded its business to Columbia and Charleston here in South Carolina as well as offices in both Charlotte and Raleigh in North Carolina.

TEI has expanded rapidly and now distributes over 9 major brands of oil including Shell, Quaker State, Pennzoil, Tellus, Cam2, Warren, Oil Pro, Zeller+Gmelin and Houghton.

Sandy and Jill’s son, Eric Taylor joined the company full time in 1993.  Within two years, Eric had expanded TEI from the industrial sector into the consumer and transport sectors and implemented its oil recycling operation in Spartanburg.  In 2003 TEI merged with Petroleum World to create Southeastern Lubricants, moving its headquarters to Cliffside, North Carolina.  Eric Taylor became the majority owner of Southeastern Lubricants in 2006, changed the company’s name back to Taylor Enterprises, Inc. and moved the headquarters back to Spartanburg.

Far from just an oil supplier, Taylor Enterprises also offers equipment programs, oil reclamation and recycling, site assessments, oil analysis, onsite technical support, hydraulic reliability studies, coolant analysis, varnish removal equipment and more.

In an effort to help provide their clients with consistent inventory and vendor management, in 2011 Taylor Enterprises also became a Mighty Auto Parts franchise, giving them the ability to be a “one stop shop” to their customer base.

From day to day operations to the handheld hardware used for ordering auto parts, TEI utilizes several different hardware and software components to streamline their processes.  Brian relayed the importance of secure, dependable, technology and support for their six locations.
