Business Continuity

Business continuity describes a complete solution for backup and disaster recovery. Much more than simply backing up your files, business continuity provides continuous protection of - and uninterrupted access to - your critical data.
A true business continuity solution also protects data on-premises, in the cloud and offers you the ability to restore your data, which is known as disaster recovery.

Data loss or corruption can happen from hardware failure, human error, disasters, hacking, malware, or theft and the impact is significant. Whether your server crashes, you lose files, or you fall victim a malicious cyber-attack, your data is protected with business continuity solutions from Pivotal IT.

Recovery Time Calculator

How long can you be without your computers and data? Understanding the real cost of data loss for your organization will provide you with valuable insight and will help you to determine if traditional backup or a business continuity solution will best support your operations and business goals. Two vital pieces of information are your Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective.

Recovery Time Objective (RTO) is the duration of time within which a business must be restored after a disruption to avoid unacceptable consequences.
Recovery Point Objective (RPO) is calculated independently of the RTO and references the point in your backup cycle to which you want to recover Your Recovery Point Objective is the maximum tolerable period of time in which data might  be lost and has to be recreated due to disaster.

By calculating your desired RTO, you determine the maximum time that you can be without your data before your business is at risk. Alternatively, by specifying the RPO, you know how often you need to perform backups. You may have an RTO of a day, and an RPO of an hour depending on what your business requires. But calculating these numbers will help you understand what type of data backup solution you need.
